Vote Yolanda Knaak

Dear Incline Village and Crystal Bay Residents,

"As a long-term resident who is very involved in the community, I am very thankful to live here. For years I have followed IVGID and informed others regarding local, state and federal issues and legislation.  Since I'm retired, I have the time to represent you and with my experience I can provide IVGID oversight and financial direction."
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Masters degree from UCLA
Retired from a life-long RN career which includes management and
  development of my own business.
Trustee and manager for 2 Nevada Family Trusts

I have volunteered:  At a local women's club, at Incline Elementary School, on Goose Patrol with my dog Mel and at a local church.

I AM COMITTED TO:

* Bringing people together through positive and respectful
   communication
* Representing the residents of Incline Village and Crystal Bay
* Solving long-term problems that affect our environment.  The Effluent Pipeline project needs to completed as soon as possible, before the treated waste water leaks into the lake.  It hasn't leaked into the lake yet, but has leaked 4 times near the lake.  It looks like we can get a low interest loan(2.17% interest) and pay it back with the $2 million extra per year that we already collect from our utilities.  Another problem, our condos and apartments do not have recycle bins-this needs to be fixed before the next contract with WM is signed.
* Maintaining and upgrading local venues and infrastructure.  Including the Snowflake Lodge, Incline Beach House and the an expansion to the Rec Center.  I am ok if we do one or two construction projects at once(in addition to the Efleuent Pipeline repacement).  Some people want to do all the construction projects at once and get a  $100 million dollar(or more) bond to pay for all the projects..  I would only vote for that if it is clearly delineated how the bond would be paid back and if there is a vote(required by NRS 350.020) by the property owners saying they want it and they agree to how it will be paid back.

-Ensuring transparency and consistent processes in fiscal reporting

YOUR VOTE  FOR ME, YOLANDA KNAAK, WILL PUT A TRANSPARENT, ETHICAL, RELIABLE AND EFFECTIVE REPRESENTATIVE ON THE IVGID BOARD OF TRUSTEES

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

-I feel horrible that we have lost the $26 million donation from the Duffield Foundation.  I want to thank the Duffield Foundation for their offer and I would like to thank GM Winquist and his staff for all their hard work.  The Rec Center expansion is so important for our community, I believe it should go on the front burner with the effluent pipeline.  Since we just lost the donation, I am not sure how we will go about raising the money at this time, but I am committed to working on it.

-An issue that people are upset about is the  STR situation.  I am a proponent of attracting the right type of visitors.  Visitors that don't feed the bears. Visitors that pick up their trash and show respect to Incline Village residents, by limiting noise.  It would be good if owners had someone close by for problems.  In the last election, one IVGID Candidate was claiming  that he was going to get rid of STRs, the only way that can happen is if it becomes a ballot measure and it receives a majority vote.

Some people are still upset about beach overcrowding, although it is much better at Burnt Cedar Beach.  The current board is working on it.  If it remains a problem, I am committed to being a part of the solution. I  also agree with the current board, we should continue to follow the beach deed.  Currently every homeowner can have a maximum of 10 punchcards(5 plus pay for 5 additional). If necessary, one simple way to fix beach overcrowding is to decrease that number.

-Another issue is Incline Village becoming a city.    For more information on becoming a city,  go to inclinevillagecity.com.  Keep in mind we currently have taxation without out representation, only about 35% of our taxes come back to us in IVCB, the rest stays in Reno.

VALUES:

I support and uphold the US Constitution as written.  I value our military, veterans, first responders, businesses, students and the elderly.  Lastly, I believe in the saying:  "Do Justice, Love Mercy and Walk Humbly. . . " , from the Book of Micah.
Please contact me at  yolanda4IVGID@gmail.com if you have questions, feedback or can donate to my campaign.  Also please contact me if you can put  a yard  sign on your property!

Thanks so much!  I can't win without your support!
